As its name suggests, the Golden Grid paper contains printed square grids. Though it is a practice paper, and the grids supply guidelines to help with calligraphy writing, it is a premium practice paper of very high quality.

One of the few practice papers that are handmade, the Golden Grid is made in Jingxian County (Jing Xian), which is in Anhui Province. This region is widely reputed to be the home Xuan paper.

Being an unprocessed, single-ply Xuan paper, the Golden Grid is highly absorbent and also remains very tenacious, being resistant to tears and crumpling as you work. These characteristics make the paper perfect for calligraphy, of course, but it can also be used for sumi-e and fineline painting.

While beginners practicing and honing their calligraphy skills certainly could use this paper, it is also an extremely useful tool used for artworks made by advanced Chinese calligraphists.
