Premium Oil Soot Ink Stick for Calligraphy Writing, Sumi-e and Fineline Painting. Mainly used by long time calligraphy and brush painting practitioners with very high requirements on their ink.

The Cang Pei Shi-Chinese Japanese Brush Painting Ink Stick is an ink stick made of oil soot, which is the soot produced from animal oil. This material produces a black that is warm and glossy. Since ink sticks have become artworks unto themselves throughout their 2,000 year existence, this one has Chinese ornaments cared into its body and the Chinese name printed in golden letters. On the other side are wonderful carvings of clouds and the sun on top and then the ocean and waves on the bottom. Between these pictures is the name of the maker of this great stick. The stick comes with a wooden storage box that serves to protect the stick.

The ink stick is known as one of the Four Treasures of the Study, which is known as the four tools that Chinese artists cannot live without.
