The Golden Moon is a boardbook - also known as a shikishi board - that is often used as a decoration item with calligraphy scripts or paintings added to it. While many boardbooks have a darker frame around a lighter paper, this product inverts that pattern and surrounds a beautifully crafted piece of golden xuan paper with a lighter border. The contrast is striking, and will serve to further highlight your original artwork you will add to the paper.

The inner layer of the board, where you can place your artwork is made of tastefully applied golden Xuan paper which will allow breathtaking contrasts when creating Sumi-e or Calligraphy artworks with black or red ink.

Since this paper is not absorbent at all it is the perfect tool for detailed Fineline (Gongbi) paintings. It can also be used for calligraphy, particularly if the goal is to achieve sharp small characters in Kai Shu, Li Shu or Zhuan Shu script styles.
