The Little Zhang Goat Hair brush has an air of quiet maturity about it, an aura created by the contrast of its pure, white tip against its dark-toned, wooden handle.

The Chinese characters carved on the upper section of the brush handle, Te Zhi Yang Hao Da Kai, notes that this is a "specially-created goat hair brush". Indeed, the Little Zhang Goat Hair brush was handcrafted by our family friend and master brush maker Zhou Xiaobing, who gives his full and undivided attention to every brush he makes.

This sleek yet unassuming brush has a tip made of soft and absorbent goat hair, and is meant to serve the calligraphic and painterly aspirations of the artist. The Little Zhang Goat Hair brush is particularly suited for Sumi-e and fine line painting as well as the more structured calligraphic scripts of Kai Shu, Li Shu and Zhuan Shu scripts.
