The contrast between the pure white goat hair brush and the black wooden handle of the In Memory of Wei and Jin brush is not as shocking as these colors often are when seen together. Because of the elegant and classic styling of the design, the brush still comes off as modest and quiet, despite the striking contrast.

And the subtle yet moving looks are how the brush got its name, which honors the Wei and Jin period (220AD - 420AD). That period in Chinese history was known for its very modest and honest people, as well as for significant advances in the development of calligraphy, including the introduction of the Cao Shu, Xing Shu and Kai Shu script styles.

This calligraphy writing brush is made entirely of the best goat hair available, which comes from the Yangtze River Delta in central China. The soft hair is extremely absorbent and flexible, allowing a smooth ink flow from the brush.

These aspects make this fine line brush an excellent choice for both calligraphy and painting.

Carved into the handle are the characters Wei Jin Yi Feng, which is the brush's name in Chinese.
