Since red is the symbol of China, it has an extremely significant standing in Chinese culture. The importance of this color can be seen all around: brides wear traditional red dresses on their wedding day, new houses are decorated in red etc. - the examples seem to never end.

But the reason why red is so important is because it represents luck, joy, enthusiasm, passion and morale. In fact, every year for the Spring Festival, every family hangs a bright red couplet on both sides of their doors that welcomes the New Year and expresses good wishes to all. Red is also featured at many other festivals throughout the year.
