If it was not the video below sent to me by my sweet friend Christine Leisi, I almost forget how winter is like ;-P Hongkong is a great city with friendly people and a lot of delicious food and Dim Sums, but living here you can barely know the fun of the winter when the pure white snow covers the earth making it so peaceful and beautiful.
The scenes Christine filmed are amazing. It is so pure that I can somehow “smell” the snow. And the music, especially the one starts at around 2 minute, oh I just love it! It is a definitely feast for the mind after a full day’s intense work.
Christine is a Sumi-e enthusiast from Switzerland. We became friends a long time ago when she ordered a lot of brush painting tools from me. We write emails every now and then, talking about sumi-e, calligraphy, seal carving – all things related to brush painting – and also things that happened in our lives. If I remember correctly, we have known each other for almost two years – how time flies! more »
Great news! We have been spending time on our Pinterest page recently and now we are very proud to introduce it to you.
The page which we are updating every day has not only boards of brush paintings but also great pictures about Japan and China where Calligraphy and Sumi-e (also known as Ink and Wash Painting) was invented and developed.
We will also add new boards of other topics later which we think could be interesting for you. Welcome to follow us in Pinterest! Once you followed us you will see nice pins every day 🙂 more »
How time flies! Our website is online and has been running for 3 months! It has been a fascinating process.
Right now we are still adjusting our website constantly in order to provide you a great user experience and to make our site not only a shop for Brush painting supplies but also a great community where artists share ideas and inspire each other.
From all the positive feedback we collected, we are so happy to know that we are getting closer to realize our dream ;- )
Here I would like to thank you all for your kindness and support as always.
Recently we made some modifications on the site – a lot of new beautiful seal stones were added and we narrowed the product categories down to four main ones: Brushes, Paper, Chinese Art Books and Seal Products. No matter whether you are a calligraphist, a sumi-e or fineline painter, you will find the products that you are looking for.
When I first had the idea for the Asian Brushpainter two years ago, I was confronted with skepticism from all around me. How could a young Chinese girl that only graduated from university three years ago launch her own online store selling Asian brush painting supplies to clients all over the world? How does it work to design and program a website? How to integrate a payment system? How to make sure people find my side on the internet? Do Westerners like Chinese painting? Are there people interested in my products at all? Sometimes my doubts really scared me.
But luckily I always had people around me who believed in me and in this project right from the start. Mainly my mom May who has always been a great source of inspiration and emotional strength for me and of course my friends who did not only support me setting up the shop but who still help me running it now.
Now, I made it!!!
I would lie if I said that I was not super proud of what we have achieved. What we were lacking in experience and know how we made up for with creativity and hard work. It was touching and motivating how many clients from our first online store were providing us with valuable advice on how to constantly improve and I thank them wholeheartedly for their patience and support – without all these people believing in us and supporting us over the last two years, this project would never have come true.more »
